I reported previously that a fellow Ownerships boat had been caught in the July ‘07 floods. It had been swept up off its moorings (having already being secured to withstand any water level rise of several feet) and unceremoniously deposited on a weir.
It even featured in the news clips throughout the day on BBC news. Well, the boat has been rescued by pushing it back in the water and checked over. Three weeks after the floods its ready to be used by the owners again. I wonder if they’ll put up flood photos inside, or a plaque with a line where the flood reached up to saying “flood July 2007″. Seriously, its great it was resolved fast. |

I really should have posted this before I went! I do try and get a non boating holiday each year - just to see the other side. This time I went to the Spain, specifically Madrid. That’s right Madrid in August when many locals leave the city to escape the heat! Fourteen days of potentially 40C. We went from Mon 13th, flying from East Midlands with Ryan Airways - a cheap flight and a chance to sample their fast landings (they come in fast applying brakes at the last minute so as to keep the time on the ground to a minimum). Mind you, after spending two weeks in Madrid I think they should just simply employ Spanish drivers, as crossing the road does seem a risky process. You see cars speed up to you braking at the last moment (I guess they just hope you’ll get out of the way - all 50 or so using the crossing) by the time it comes for them to think about braking. The temperature was quite cool (25C in the evenings), and I managed to boat on a lake. Time now to plan my next boating holiday - in September. |

This website has appeared on TV, okay not the big broadcast channels but a web-tv ont. Theboaters.TV is a US site featuring webisodes of news and boating related story. Whilst the clip may be brief, I like it, and for those who haven’t seen it, here’s a link… |
