Waterproof Walkie-Talkies

We have a pair of two-way radio’s to use at locks, etc., but stopped using them a year or so ago because the batteries failed (rechargeable ones that had given up the ghost), which could in part be due to using them in damp conditions. Recently Adam on nb Debdale mentioned he’d bought some from Amazon, which reminded me to get mine ready as I’d bought new rechargeable AAA’s in the summer for use in them. When I dug them out I found one had its aerial bent - the ones I have are a few years old and have 2″ aerials, still okay I suppose.

However, when in Aldi I saw they had pairs of “Marina 300″ two-way radios for £9.99. These are Binatone ones, just re-badged on the front with Tevion.

They state “splash resistant”, but as they are identical to the Binatone ones which state “waterproof to 1 Metre” its fair to assume they are the same. So at least I’ll be able to use them in the rain and at least know that if they did fall in at least they’d be okay - not sure if they float though, so may need to test that first.

I also purchased exactly the same set of walkie talkies from Aldi as well (bargain at 9.99). I have used them in the rain and they work fine with little interference, I also somehow managed to drop them in my kitchen sink full of water and still work absolutely fine!!
